Nine Palms is an independent software studio. We design, build, and run our own consumer products end to end — research and interface through to the servers they run on. Crash, a housing marketplace for university students, is the first one out.

What we've shipped

Crash Student housing · iOS, Android & web In beta

Students find housing in Facebook groups and on Craigslist, where listings go stale, prices are guesswork, and nobody knows who they're talking to. Crash replaces that with a proper marketplace: every listing carries real dates and a real price, and every person behind one is verified.

Verified from the start. Students confirm a university email; anyone listing a place shows they're allowed to rent it out before students see it.
Both sides choose. Renters express interest, listers pick from a queue of verified students. Chat opens only when it's mutual — no inbox full of strangers.
Addresses stay private until both sides agree to talk.
Built for the school calendar. Search by semester and move-in window, not vague availability. Stale listings expire instead of lingering.

We aren't an agency and don't take contract work. Everything here is ours — designed, built, and operated by the studio, which means we're accountable for it long after launch.
Trust as a feature

Our products put people in touch with strangers over money. Verification, privacy, and clear reporting get designed in from the first sketch rather than bolted on after something goes wrong.
Careful with data

We collect what a product genuinely needs and nothing more. Personal details stay private by default, and anyone can delete their account and data from inside the app.
Made for phones first

Our audience lives on a phone. We build for iPhone and Android together, with the web as a way in — not as an afterthought.
